On Friday I accidentally placed two buy orders with only having one day trade left. I panicked since I did not want the extra risk + it was going against me pretty quickly. I probably could have gotten out with a 1-2c profit if I was quicker since I do remember seeing being up $4 at one point.
This will potentially lock my IB account on Monday, so I’ll be waiting to see what happens. I added more funds to get out of the PDT but that will take a few days. I’ll update this post if I receive any notices from IB.
It’s probably for the best since I’ve tried not to trade on Wednesday/Thursday when I only had one day trade left. I wanted to save it for potential Friday short squeezes. I’ll be able to trade every day if I see good opportunities. I still plan to trade with small 100 share positions.
Since I can’t trade I’ll be testing some of the “profit taker” settings in TWS with paper trading so I can have an automatic sell go out 20c-50c higher. That way I won’t need to worry about manually placing the sell order.
Also this weekend I wrote a WPF UI for the IBhod scanner. It has some more functionality that I want to test during market hours.
It’s Monday now and my account was not locked and actually has one day trade left. I still do not plan to trade with real money today. I want to test some of the profit taking options and the IBhod UI.
Up pretty big on a deal with Ford. This is a stock Tim traded and made $70k+ from a yacht. Watching for a multiday breakout over $1.50.

Ran into the close on Friday. This one is tricky for me to time so I’ll try trading it with paper trading. Not really any news.

Big run on Friday. I nearly bought for the $18.00 break since it was very strong. It got up to $20.00+.

Earnings. Some premarket support near $2.75 and $2.60.
Since I’m not trading with real money today I’m able to not worry about being wrong. I traded $NVFY at 9:31 AM and made $19. It kept going so I took the profit a little too quickly.
Traded $CAPR next and bought for the $3.00 break. It kept struggling with $3.07 so I got out. I should have waited for the small pull back instead which would have worked way better.
Next, $EKSO. My alert got hit for $2.20 so I bought near $2.22 which was premarket highs. Got out for an $18 profit.
And then $AMD. It’s hard to get a read on it but it looked like a bottom was forming so I got in at $10.98 and out at $11.03. I could have given it more time but it’s so difficult.
I saw $ZX get halted but it never dipped enough to really get a nice dip buy.
Overall a really solid morning for paper trading.
