The market recovered quite a bit yesterday. I wanted to get in $TVIX when the $SPY was dipping but it always seems like a chase. $AMD actually followed the $SPY in the morning perfectly. That could be an easy buy if the $SPY starts going parabolic out of the gate.
I’ve been using Stocks to Trade for about two weeks now and I’m somewhat disappointed with it. On one of the days there was a period of 15 minutes or so where no data was being received, so it was just a blank spot in the chart. I’ve seen multiple candlesticks that are just wrong on the daily chart and very odd wicks on ETFs like the $SPY. There’s also no more “free” level 2 (probably an industry thing since even E-Trade Pro is charging for it now).
The only thing I like about it is:
- Being able to scan the OTC markets easily for big gainers at the end of the day, but I can do that in thinkorswim / TWS / or by looking at the otcmarkets website.
- Twitter screener. Even that’s only useful when some random news comes out (like $CDXC recently).
- High of day scanner. Still, only useful when something is printing frequently and for some reason isn’t on the percent gainers list.
I’m just not seeing much value in it. I will say their support team is helpful and responds quickly.
I want to try eSignal for trading since I had some lag issues with thinkorswim yesterday, but that’s going to cost a ton if I get L2 access.
My problem is that the thinkorswim platform can lag near the open when tons of stuff is going on. Yesterday, I had the chart saying $TVIX was at $11 and the L2 was at $10. Meanwhile on TWS the chart was updating just fine.
I can’t use IB for support/resistance charting because sometimes the data just doesn’t want to load when you zoom in/out and they’re just difficult to use in general. They’re functional for intraday trading but that’s about it.
On watch in case the market panics again. $SPY gapped down a little but that could be nothing.
Close to a multiday breakout over $13.25.
$POTN / $PRMCF / $EMHTF / $KSHB / $ACBFF / $CANN
Watching these for big panics to buy.
I was really tired so I couldn’t be here. None of the pot stocks had morning panics. $TGTX got close but didn’t break out. $TVIX would have been the one to play since the market sold off some more around 9:40 AM. The market could go either way still.
